Our Programs
What is a Felony?
A felony charge means that an official legal proceeding has been initiated against a person, accusing them of committing a serious crime. A felony is a serious crime that is punishable by imprisonment for more than one year or by death. A felony arrest occurs when law enforcement detains an individual based on probable cause, believing they have committed a serious crime.
What is a Misdemeanor?
A misdemeanor is a type of criminal charge that carries a penalty of up to a year in jail. Misdemeanor crimes are more serious than a citation, but are less serious than felony charges. Generally speaking, any crime that carries potential jail time of one year or less is classified as a misdemeanor.

The court can impose probation instead of a jail sentence. The court sets conditions for the probation period, which may include but not limited to refraining from committing crimes, following a curfew, remaining gainfully employed, attending counseling, completing community service, random drug testing and meeting with a probation officer as directed
